Roland RD-2000 – The ultimate stage piano for professional musicians

The Roland RD-2000 combines advanced piano technology with exceptional playability and control, making it the first choice for both live performance and studio production. With two powerful and independent sound engines, superior keyboard technology, and an intuitive interface, the RD-2000 sets a new standard for digital stage pianos.

The stage piano is equipped with two separate sound engines – one dedicated to acoustic pianos based on Roland’s V-Piano technology, and a second engine powered by SuperNATURAL technology for electric pianos. This gives users access to a rich range of authentic sounds, from expressive grand piano sounds with full polyphony to classic electric pianos from the 60s, 70s and 80s. These include newly developed versions of sounds from the RD-1000 and MKS-20, two legendary Roland instruments whose sounds have shaped countless hits.

The PHA-50 progressive escapement keyboard – made from a hybrid of wood and modern composite materials – offers a playing feel that is strongly reminiscent of an acoustic grand piano. The combination of authentic touch, high durability, and Roland’s advanced sensor technology makes the RD-2000 an instrument where expression and technique meet at the absolute highest level.

For live situations, the RD-2000 is a powerhouse. With eight programmable knobs (with LED indicators), nine sliders and support for up to eight zones, it gives musicians full control over sounds, layers, effects and external devices in real time. Plus, the built-in Scene function lets you save and quickly switch between up to 100 unique setups – perfect for gigs where quick sound changes are essential.

The two modulation wheels and Roland's classic pitch/modulation lever provide additional expressive possibilities, while the new data knobs with LED feedback and velocity-sensitive control offer fast, precise and visually clear parameter control – even in dark stage environments.

The RD-2000 is not just a piano instrument, but a complete tool for modern musicians. With over 1,100 additional sounds – including synths, organs, strings, brass and percussion – it covers every musical genre and need. Via two expansion slots, additional sound libraries can be downloaded from Roland’s Axial platform, including sounds from previous RD models.

The instrument also functions as a powerful master controller for software and external devices. The USB Audio/MIDI interface allows the RD-2000 to be easily integrated into your DAW environment, both in the studio and live. You can control software synths in combination with internal sounds and route all audio through the RD-2000's own sound engine - creating a flexible and professional hybrid rig. The audio transmission supports 24-bit/192 kHz for the highest possible sound quality.

Connectivity options are extensive: the RD-2000 offers balanced XLR and ¼-inch master outputs, as well as a separate sub output for routing specific audio tracks or effects. Four individual pedal inputs are available for damper, expression and control pedals, and a DP-10 is included as standard. For a more complete playing experience, the RPU-3 can be purchased separately – a three-piece pedal in a single compact format, which mimics the feel of an acoustic grand piano pedal.

Despite its powerful performance and great functionality, the RD-2000 weighs no more than previous models in the series. The robust aluminum chassis is both durable and lightweight, making it ideal for touring. For optimal stability on stage or in the studio, the matching KS-G8 stand is available as an optional accessory – an adjustable, foldable stand with a slim design.

In short, the Roland RD-2000 is an instrument that combines the best of two worlds: the expression and feel of an acoustic grand piano, and the flexibility and control of the digital world. It is a professional stage piano that meets – and exceeds – the demands of today’s most demanding pianists and keyboardists.
